Could voting for president be hazardous to your health? An analysis of Election Day traffic deaths suggests yes, but the authors say that's no reason not to go to the polls.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

I would guess that since more seniors vote than other groups, the rise in accidents has a lot to do with the old folks on the road.

I am wondering... Who will benefit for this new "study" that wants to keep away voters from poling places using the usual scare tactics?
They state that the increased accident rate is no excuse for not voting... Get to the polling station even if you are risking your life! (if that is not scare tactics I do not know how to label it) People in the USA get easily scared by these kind of "studies". Remember that statistics is the best way to lie!
Keeping people away from poling stations is the sure way to avoid a landslide victory

Who "funds" these ridiculous studies anyway? And how ridiculous is it to believe anything that might cause a would-be voter to reconsider getting behind the wheel? Please, if there is any doubt in your mind that you might, just might maybe get into an accident on your way to the polls, please ask a friend or neighbor to take you. But please don't believe all that you read.

voting is no fun if you can't drink before, during, and after

i would suggest the higher rate of accidents on voting days is because of those throngs of people who stand on street corners waving signs. I admire their spirit but they're a big distraction at intersections.

This ought to scare the elderly McCain voters away from the polls. Unsurprising reporting for MSNBC.

Uh, I suppose this has absolutely nothing to do with increased traffic.
Statistics are a great tool, but its very seldom all variables are considered.

If I'm going down, I'm taking McCain with me. It's already been determined he won't last a 2nd term in office...let's save some of those tax dollars and eliminate the middle man (the grim reaper)

I am pretty sure there is a lot of old people out voting that should not be driving.
